The first provincial Tartan in Canada, the Nova Scotia Tartan reflects the significant impact of the Scots to the founding of New Scotland and the pioneer settlement of Old Royal Province.
The blue and white in the Tartan represent the ocean while the greens represent the forests. The Royal Lion on the shield in the Arms of the Province is represented by red and the gold is emblematic of the Province's Royal Charter.
